Offers research, travel, and advisory support to students in the humanities and social sciences to help with dissertation development. DEADLINE: Oct.

Gateway Grant SSRC International Dissertation Research Fellowship (IDRF) [Dissertation]

Offers 9-12 months of support to students in the humanities and social sciences enrolled in Ph.D. programs in the U.S. and conducting dissertation research outside of the U.S. Promotes research situated in a specific discipline and geographical region but also informed by interdisciplinary and cross-regional perspectives. Harvey Fellowship [Multiyear]

Scholarships for Christian students who are pursuing graduate studies at premier universities in fields considered to be underrepresented by Christians and who possess a unique vision to impact society through their vocations. DEADLINE: early November.

Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships [Dissertation]

These fellowships support students in the final stages of doctoral study whose work offers significant potential for advancing academic scholarship related to ethics and/or religion. DEADLINE: mid-November. 

Jennings Randolph Peace Scholar Dissertation Scholarships [Dissertation]

Awards nonresidential Peace Scholar Dissertation Scholarships to students at U.V. universities who are writing doctoral dissertations on topics related to peace, conflict, and international security. DEADLINE: mid-December. 

Harry Frank Guggenheim Dissertation Fellowship [Dissertation]

Funds disseration research regarding questions that interest the foundaiton including violence and aggression in relation to social change, intergroup conflict, war, terrorism, crime, and family relationships, among other subjects. DEADLINE: early February. 

National Institute of Justice Graduate Fellowship [Dissertation]

Awards funding for research on crime, violence, and other criminal justice-related topics. Topics of interests to NIJ under this program vary from year to year but students from any academic discipline may propose original research that has direct implications for criminal justice in the United States. DEADLINE: December. 

Fahs-Beck Scholars Doctoral Dissertation Grant [Dissertation]

Awards funding for research on studies about problems in the functioning or wellbeing of children, adults, couples, families, or communities, or about interventions designed to prevent or alleviate such problems. DEADLINE: April & November. 

Spencer Dissertation Fellowship [Dissertation]

Supports ABD students researching topics relevant to the improvement of education. DEADLINE: October. 

CLIR/Mellon Fellowships for Dissertation Research in Original Sources [Dissertation Completion]

Funds dissertation research in the humanities or related social science sin original sources. For students who plan to do dissertation research primarily in original source material in the holdings of archives, libraries, historical societies, museums, related repositories, or a combination. DEADLINE: mid-November. 

School for Advanced Research Weatherhead Fellowship [Dissertation Completion]

Fellowships for Ph.D. candidates or scholars who have completed research and analysis in the social sciences or humanities and need time to reflect, debate, and write. DEADLINE: November. 

Josephine de Karman Fellowship [Dissertation Completion]

Open to students in any discipline who will graduate by June of the year applied for, regardless of citizenship. DEADLINE: January.

Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship [Pre-Dissertation]

Awards made to individuals who are committed to careers in teaching and research at the university level, show promise of future achievement, and are well prepared to used diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students. DEADLINE: November. 

Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship [Dissertation Completion]

For students expecting to graduate within 9-12 months. Gateway Grant National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) [Multiyear]

For 1st- and 2nd-year graduate students at U.S. institutions doing research in fields broadly related to STEM, including education. Three years of support. DEADLINE: late October.mid-December. 

Gateway Grant Fullbright U.S. Student Program [Academic Year]

A prestigious fellowship that allows for a study, research, or ESL teaching abroad. Encourages STEM students to apply. DEADLINE: campus-based, often in August or September. 

Boren Fellowship [Academic Year]

For study abroad in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Fellowship can include language study, research, and academic internships. DEADLINE: late-January. 

National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Graduate Fellowship Program[Fellowship]

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, designed for students interested in a career in global nuclear security including nonproliferation, maintaining the stockpile, counterterrorism and counter-proliferation, and oversight and change. DEADLINE: October. 

Presidential Management Fellowship [Open]

Government-based leadership development program at the entry level for advanced degree candidates. DEADLINE: Varies. 

American Association of University Women (AAUW)American Fellowship [Dissertation Completion, Women Only]

Supports women completing their dissertation writing during the award year. DEADLINE: mid-November.
